Employment equity roadshow heads for Western Cape

The Department of Employment and Labour’s Employment Equity (EE) roadshow will this week be heading to the Western Cape.

Tomorrow (September 17) the department will be hosting a workshop at Fancourt Montagu Street, Blanco in George. This will be followed by another workshop on Thursday (September 19) at Grand West Casino, 1 Jakes Gerwel Drive in Cape Town.

The theme of the workshops is: “Real transformation makes business sense”. The objective of the roadshows is to create awareness on compliance with the Employment Equity Act.

This year’s workshops are focusing on the following:

  • EEA4 – completion of the form to report on remuneration data
  • International Labour Organization (ILO) Convention on elimination of violence and harassment in the ‘World of Work’
  • Commission for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) presentation on cases of violence, harassment and dispute resolutions.

The EE workshops are targeted at employers or heads of organisations, academics, assigned senior managers, consultative forum members, human resource practitioners, trade unions representatives and employees. The Department of Employment and Labour workshops started on 20 August. Workshops have since been held in Kimberley, Rustenburg, Emalahleni, Polokwane, Bloemfontein, Pietermaritzburg, Durban, East London and Port Elizabeth.

The last two workshops will be held next week as follows:

    • 26 September 2019 at Indaba Hotel, Spa and Conference Centre – William Nicol Drive & Wenning Road in Fourways
    • 27 September 2019 at CSIR International Convention Centre – Meiring Naude Road, Brummeria in Pretoria

Meanwhile, the EE report submission season for both manual and online reporting opened on 01 September 2019. Manual reporting closes on 01 October 2019 and the online reporting will close in January 2020. – ENDS
